Blacksburg -- Donald Gene Wisher, 68, of 104 South Charleston Street, Blacksburg, went to do the timbers in Heaven on Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Blacksburg, Mr. Wisher was the husband of Ann Simmons Wisher of the home and the son of Elmer Elizabeth Wright Wisher and the late Gerald Dean Wisher. He was self-employed as a logger and was a member of Blacksburg Church of God. He was a friend to many and loved to drink coffee at Danny's Cafe. He was loved by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He would go out of his way to help people. He loved the outdoors and loved to fish.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wisher is survived by one son, Donald Christopher Wisher of the home; one daughter, Carol Wisher Blackwell of Blacksburg; one brother, Dean Wisher of Blacksburg; one sister, Wanda Hodge of Gaffney; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is survived by numerous other friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by brother Johnny Lee Wisher and sister Verita Wisher. The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses at Upstate Carolina Medical Center and Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 12th, 2013 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 13th, at 3:00pm at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeff Gilfillan, Rev. Lucky Earls, and Honorary Pastor Chad Wisher officiating.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 19, at 2:00 at Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg, SC.
