Donnie Byars

Blacksburg -- Donnie Wayne Byars, 58, of 458 Houser Road, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at his residence. Born in Gaffney, Mr. Byars was the husband of Reba Bivens Byars of the home and the son of the late Ervin James and Vryle Byars. He worked as an armed security guard and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Byars is survived by a son, Kyle Aaron Byars of the home; a sister, Sydney Davis of Marion; and a step-brother, Joey Hampton of Gaffney. In addition to his parents, Mr. Byars was preceded in death by two brothers, Dude and Jimmy Byars. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 8:30 PM at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 4 PM at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Craig, Rev. Michael Woods, and Rev. Vernon Thornhill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family will be at the residence.
