Blacksburg -- Doris Peek Wilkerson 76, of 204 Dixon Dr., passed away Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born in York, Mrs. Wilkerson was the wife of Phil Wilkerson of the home and the daughter of the late Fred Napoleon Peek and Annie Mae Parker Peek. She worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Dubose & Dr. Campbell of Blacksburg, Dr. Hammett and Dr, Soherwardy of Gaffney, and as a nurse at Cherokee County Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and York County School of Nursing and she was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Blacksburg. Mrs. Wilkerson was a member of Eastern Star and a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by two sons, Sonny Sealy of Blacksburg and Bob Wilkerson of Lexington SC; two sisters, Grace Whiten of Gaffney & Betty Spencer of Hartwell, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by daughter Cheryl Sealy Phillips, brother Sonny Peek, and sister Freda Peek Long. Funeral services will be held at Blacksburg First Baptist Church at 7 o'clock Monday with Rev. Don Boshell officiating. The family will receive friends after the funeral service in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, SC 29342 and also to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 105 South Rutherford St., Blacksburg, SC 29702. The family will be at the residence.
