Doyle Price

Blacksburg -- Doyle Marshall Price, 71, of 239 Dulin Road, passed away Thursday, February 2nd, 2017, at Kings Mountain Hospital. Born in Gastonia, he was the husband of Karen Price and the son of the late Doyle Price and Rosie Williamson Price. Mr. Price owned Transwest Inc. and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a Blacksburg Police Department Reserve Officer and formerly a Reserve Office with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department. He is a member of American Legion Post 109 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is a veteran of the US Army, having served as a medic in Vietnam. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart from the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife, Mr. Price is survived by two daughters, Kristie Price Queen and husband, John, and Gina Price Klock and husband, Nick, both of Blacksburg; two sisters, Vickie Dockery and husband, Jerry, of Gastonia, NC and Edrie Jackson of Dallas, NC; four grandchildren, Ahna Queen, John Connor Queen, Aileana Queen, and Nicholas Klock, all of Blacksburg. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Olivia Rose Queen. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4th, 2017, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 5th, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. George Fizer officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Members of the Blacksburg Police Department will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers with be members of the Blacksburg Police Department and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 109, PO Box 8001, Gaffney, SC 29342. The family will be at the residence of his daughter, Kristie Queen, at 262 Dulin Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
