Blacksburg -- Edward Chester Ferdinand, 84, of 103 North Calles Street, passed away Monday, August 30th, 2010 at the Regional Hospice Home. Born in Queens, New York, Mr. Ferdinand was the husband of the late Grace Louise Smith Ferdinand and the son of the late Jerome and Edith Wehler Ferdinand. Mr. Ferdinand was a WWII veteran of the US Army, where he received a Purple Heart, Bronze and Silver Stars, WWII Victory Metal, and the American Campaign Ribbon. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Ferdinand is survived by special friends, Peggy and Buddy Owens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 1st, at 2:00pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Gregg Martin and Rev. Lucky Earls officiating. Entombment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 101 S. John Street, Suite M, Blacksburg, SC 29702. The family will be at the residence.
