Hickory Grove -- Finley Dover, 86, of 2789 Howells Ferry Road, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at Hospice House and Community Care. Born in Hickory Grove, Mr. Dover was the husband to Marie Melton Dover of the home and the son of the late Jim and Mamie Peterson Dover. He worked as a cutter in textiles, served in the United States Army, and was a member of Hickory Grove Church of God. In addition to his wife, Mr. Dover is survived by a son, Ricky Dover of Hickory Grove; a daughter, Vickie Boyd of York; a sister, Susie Weaver of Clover; 2 grandchildren, Danny Boyd of York and Eric Boyd of Sharon; and 1 great-grandson, Dallas Boyd. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dover was preceded in death by a grandson, Randy Dover; a sister, Bessie Dover; and two brothers, Palmer and Jimmy Dover. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 2 at the Hickory Grove Church of God, with Rev. Mike Goodwin and Rev. Milton Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Home and Community Care, 2275 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will be at the residence.
