Florence Ayers

Kings Mountain -- Rev. Florence Walker Ayers, 79, formerly of 253 Bear Creek Road in Blacksburg, passed away Tuesday, August 17th, 2010 at White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain. Born in Rutherford County, NC, Rev. Ayers was the wife of the late William Frell Ayers, Sr. and the daughter of the late Thomas Worth and Mary Hargett Walker. Rev. Ayers retired from textiles and was a member of New Life Ministries Church of God of Prophecy, where she was a former pastor. She had also pastored at Pacolet Church of God of Prophecy and Poole Bend Church of God of Prophecy. Surviving Rev. Ayers are two sons, William (Bill) Ayers, Jr. and Roger Dale Ayers, both of Blacksburg; three grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Walker of Rock Hill; and a sister, Allie Mae Bolin of Blacksburg. The family will receive friends, Thursday, August 19th, 2010 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20th, at 1:00pm at New Life Ministries Church of God of Prophecy with Mr. Curley Lanier and Bishop Barry Sutton also Bishop Kenneth Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park in Rock Hill. Memorials may be made to New Life Ministries Church of God of Prophecy, 809 Batchelor Drive, Blacksburg, SC 29702. The family will be at Bill Ayers' residence, 521 Bear Creek Road, Blacksburg. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
