Gene Martin

Blacksburg -- Gene N. Martin, 65, of 104 South Calles Street, Blacksburg, passed away January 25th, 2013 at his residence. Born in York, Mr. Martin was the husband of Jacqueline Taylor Martin of the home and the son of the late James Carlton Martin and Eunice Pursley Carroll. He worked as a truck driver for UPS Freight and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife Jacqueline; two sons, Michael Martin of Gaffney and Justin Taylor of the home; two daughters, Kristy Burgess of Grover and Nikki Vance of Gaffney; two brothers, Wallace Martin of Hickory Grove and Joe Martin of Blacksburg; two sisters, Polly Moore and Carolyn Hughey, both of Blacksburg; and six grandchildren, Ryan Greene of Blacksburg, Mason Burgess of Grover, Danielle Martin, Payton Burgess, Gunner Burgess, and Tristen Vance, all of Gaffney. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Martin. The family will receive friends Monday, January 28th, 2013 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29th, at 3:00pm at First Baptist Church of Blacksburg with Rev. Scott Hammett and Rev. Scott Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family will be at the residence.
