Gaffney -- Harvey Lee "Junior" Peterson, 63, of 4564 Wilkinsville Highway, passed away Tuesday, March 15th, 2016, at his residence. Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Evelyn Peterson and the son of the late Harvey Peterson Sr. and Maggie Dover. Mr. Peterson retired from textiles and was a member of Tabernacle of Love, where he served on the deacon board. Mr. Peterson also served his country in the the United States Army. In addition to his wife, Mr. Peterson is survived by two sons, Danny Lee Peterson and friend, Brenda Williford, of Jonesville and Timothy C. Peterson of Blacksburg; one daughter, Jonnie Denise Peterson, of Blacksburg; a brother, Louis Peterson and wife, Barbara, of Kings Creek; a sister, Linda K Johnson and husband, Cliff, of Shelby, NC; five grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, and Hunter Lee Peterson, all of Jonesville and Macy and Harley Sanders, both of Blacksburg; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Furman Sanders Jr; a sister, Doris Ann Martin; and two brothers, Gene and James Peterson. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18th, 2016, from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19th, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Buddy Dover officiating. Interment will follow at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery. Chris Hamrick, Rodney Hamrick, Tony Martin, Chris Ray, Joey Ray, and Jose Renteria will serve as pallbearers. The family will be at the residence.
