Obituary for Henry Calvin Parker

Blacksburg -- Henry C. "Bate" Parker, 86, of 370 Parker Road, passed away Monday, March 3rd, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Frances McDaniel Parker and the son of the late William Forrest Parker and Corrie Beatrice Bratton Parker. He retired from textiles and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Bate was a special person who never met a stranger. He loved to farm and fish and helped to keep his family together by helping raise his younger brothers and sisters after the death of his parents.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Parker is survived by one son, Ray Parker (Libby), of Gaffney; one daughter, Myra Earle (Jerry), of Blacksburg; Bob Parker of Blacksburg, Charles Parker (Harriette) of Gaffney, Junior Parker (Gerry) of Kings Mountain, Lee "Hoot" Parker (Carolyn) of Blacksburg, and Perrin Parker (Diane)of Blacksburg; one sister, Betty Harrington, of Gaffney; and four grandchildren, Wendy Collins (Travis) of Boiling Springs, SC, Brandon Poole of Blacksburg, Caleb Parker of Gaffney, and Kayla Parker of Gaffney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Bill" Parker, Sr. and Jake Parker, and one sister, Leila Parker Lyle.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 7, 2014, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bruce Price, Rev. Martin Hogg, and Rev. Perrin Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Myra Earle, 366 Parker Road, Blacksburg.
