Smyrna -- Janie Claudine Doster, 84, and Herbert Killin Doster, 85, husband and wife of almost 63 years, both passed away hours apart Monday, May 29th, 2017. Mrs. Doster passed away at Mary Black Health System - Gaffney and Mr. Doster later passed away at his residence. Born in Gaffney, Mrs. Doster was the daughter of the late Clarence and Berthina Owensby Harris. Mrs. Doster retired from textiles and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. Mr. Doster was the son of the late Tom and Beatrice Brakefield Doster and also retired from textiles. Mr. and Mrs. Doster are survived by one son, Jerry Doster and wife, Kay, of Smyrna; one daughter, Priscilla Totherow and husband, Andy, of Smyrna; four grandchildren, Thomas Doster, Brandon Doster, Brandy Totherow, and Blake Totherow; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Doster is survived by two sisters, Joan Harris Martin and Faye Harris Moss, both of Smyrna. She was preceded in death by one brother, Julian Harris. Mr. Doster is survived by three brothers, John Henry Doster of York, Jim Doster of Clover, and Tommy Doster of Shelby, NC; three sisters, Peggy Doster Slaughter of Inman, Linda Doster Powell of Cherryville, NC, and Betty Doster Booth of Shelby, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1st, 2017, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services for Mrs. Doster will be held Friday, June 2nd, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Smyrna Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Thompson officiating. Mr. Doster will join her for the graveside service that will immediately follow in the Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes.
