Iva Lee McDaniel

Blacksburg -- Iva Lee McDaniel, 91, of 477 Bluebird Lane, Blacksburg, passed away Wednesday, September 18th, 2013 at Wendover Hospice Home. Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. McDaniel was the daughter of the late Edward Washington McDaniel and Ora Ann Martin McDaniel. She worked as a battery filler in the textile industry and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church. For the past two years, she was a resident of Shelby House Assisted Living Home where she had many friends and loved all the workers. She loved gospel bluegrass music and playing bingo. Her grandchildren and great grandkids were the love of her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. McDaniel is survived by one daughter, Libby Morrison and husband Jerry of Grover, NC; daughter-in-law, Lorna Lee McDaniel; a sister, Edna White Manning and husband Gene, of Blacksburg; 4 grandchildren, Kiley Mullinax and wife Melissa and Matthew McDaniel and wife Kim, both of Blacksburg, Stephanie Hamrick and husband Chris of Shelby, NC, and Chance McDaniel and wife Jennifer of Gaffney; and 11 great-grandchildren, Lacie, Cody, Cheyenne, Clayton, Bryce, Tyler, Wesley, Justin, Michael, Kaden, and Kendall. She was preceded in death by one son, Lee Edward McDaniel, brothers Edward (Junior) McDaniel and Clyde Washington McDaniel, and two half-brothers, Thomas and Leonard Harris. The family will receive friends Friday, September 20th, 2013 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21st, at 2:00pm at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Mr. James Wendell Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
