Jewell Grigg

Shelby -- Jewell Brackett Grigg, 96, formerly of 1609 Mountain Lane in Shelby, passed away Monday, April 3rd, 2017, at Kings Mountain Hospital. Born in Bowling Green, SC, she was the widow of Clyde C. Grigg and the daughter of the late William Brackett and Beulah Childers Brackett. Mrs. Grigg worked as a homemaker and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Shelby. Surviving Mrs. Grigg are one son, Stephen C. Grigg and wife, Carolyn, of Clover, SC; three grandchildren, Deborah G. Chestnutt, Jeffrey T. Grigg and wife, Annette, and David B. Grigg and wife, Rose; nine great-grandchildren, Kevin and Caroline Davis, Jessie and Samantha Grigg, Trey Childress, Benjamin A. Chestnutt, and Josephine, Stella, and Ike Grigg; a niece, Lynn Summey; a nephew, Reg Summey; and her special friends and caregivers, Priscilla Kendrick, Yvonne Ashe, Wanda Cooper, and Diane Blanton. In addition to her husband of fifty-three years and parents, Mrs. Grigg was preceded in death by a son, Robert Bryant Grigg, and a sister, Louise Brackett Summey. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7th, 2017, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church of Shelby, 320 Old Boiling Springs Road, Shelby, North Carolina 28152. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Tony Sisk officiating. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Shelby Building Fund, 320 Old Boiling Springs Rd, Shelby, NC 28152. The family will be at their respective homes.
