Joan Hass

Gaffney -- Joan Simpson Hass, 79, of 269 Beltline Road Apt 5D, passed away Tuesday, May 1st, 2012, at her daughter's residence. Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Hass was the widow of Vernet Delmar Hass and the daughter of the late Joseph Ruben and Lila Mae Hunter Simpson. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. Mrs. Hass is survived by two sons, David Hass and wife, Cindy, of Gaffney and Matthew Vernon Hass and wife, Cherie, of Gaffney; a step-son, Bruce Phillips and wife, Peggy, of Houston, TX; a daughter, Lori Hass Batchler and husband, Craig, of Blacksburg; a step-daughter, Nancy Kolojaco and husband, Anthony, of Houston, TX; a brother, James Simpson and wife, Kathy, of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Davida Painter, Nichole Hass, Mary Anne Hass, Erica Hass, Alana Hass, Dalton Batchler, Matthew Hass, Julie Kolojaco, Lisa Lester, Stephanie Phillips, Brooke Walton, Jason Phillips, Angela Vaughan, and Erica Phillips. A Graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, May 10th, 2012, at 1:00pm at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Lewis Batchelor officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at David and Cindy Hass' Residence, 162 Splawn Drive, Gaffney, SC. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 155 Deacon Tiller Court, Duncan, SC 29334. The family will be at their respective homes. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
