Gaffney -- Kathy Elaine Teague Upchurch, 53, of 106 Harrison Street, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, Mrs. Upchurch was the daughter of the late Rev. Forest Teague Jr. and Altie Mae Benton Teague of Gaffney. Mrs. Upchurch was a member of Gospel Lite Christian Fellowship and was a homemaker. Surviving Mrs. Upchurch is a daughter, Tina Upchurch Millen of Gaffney; a son, Steven Eugene Upchurch of Gaffney; two sisters, Reda Teague of Charlotte and Martha Teague of Gaffney; her common-law husband, Jerry Blaine Byars Sr. of the home; and five grandchildren. In addition to her father, Mrs. Upchurch was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Scott Upchurch, and two brothers, Ronnie Wayne Teague and Gary Lee Teague Sr. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2 at Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Dean Painter and Rev. Gregg Martin officiating.
