Larry Bowen

Blacksburg -- Larry Dean Bowen, 60, of 131 Bolin Road, Blacksburg, passed away Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Shelby, Mr. Bowen was the son of the late William Glen Bowen and Junie Bell Hord Bowen. He worked as a fixer in the textile industry and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Bowen is survived by one son, Dwight Bowen and wife Angela of Blacksburg; two daughters, Melissa Greene and husband Scott of Kings Mountain, NC and Betty Simmons and husband Johnathan of Gaffney; two brothers, Harold Bowen and wife Jan of Shelby, NC and Jimmy Bowen and wife Lib of Grover, NC; four sisters, Geneva Hord, Sandra Adams and husband Gene, and Elaine Mullinax, all of Grover, NC and Maxine Spell of Louisiana; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Reece Bowen and Kenneth Bowen. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 8 from 5:00-6:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Memorial services will follow at 6:00 at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Scott Hardin officiating. Memorials may be made to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will be at the residence of Elaine Mullinax, 217 Hardin Circle, Grover, NC.
