York -- Letha Lee Martin Keener, 81, of White Oak Manor, but formerly of 5176 Canaan Church Road, Smyrna, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at her home. Born in Smyrna, Mrs. Keener was the wife of William Joe Keener of Smyrna and the daughter of the late Vester and Martha Peterson Martin. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was retired from textiles. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Keener is survived by three sons, William Albert Keener of Smyrna, Clarence Lee Keener of Kannapolis, NC, and Lawrence Lee Keener of Blacksburg; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Erskine Martin of Pensecola, FL, Mason Martin of Clover, and Wesley Martin of Fallston, NC; and two sisters, Catherine Staley of Gastonia and Bert Ayers of Blacksburg. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keener was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Keener Melton. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 PM at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1 PM at Unity at Calvary Church of God in Rock Hill, with Rev. Kenneth Rabon officiating. Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill. The family will be at her former residence, 5176 Canaan Church Road in Smyrna.
