Louise Leagon

Blacksburg -- Surrounded by her family, Louise Cooley Leagon, 78, of 631 Leagon Drive, passed away Sunday, July 2nd, 2017, at Mary Black Health System - Gaffney. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Jonathan "Pop" Leagon, who passed on June 20th, and the daughter of the late Worden and Elizabeth Bridges Cooley. After working for twenty-five years as the secretary at the Blacksburg Magistrate's office, she became the secretary at the family business, Leagon's Racing Heads until her health no longer allowed it. Mrs. Leagon was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Leagon are two sons, Roger Leagon and wife, Janet, of Blacksburg and Ronald Leagon and Sandra Gibson of Blacksburg; one daughter, Shirley Leagon Thompson and husband, Jim, of Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Jonathan Leagon and wife, Melanie, of Blacksburg, Dustin Dover and wife, Dawn, of Gaffney, Jeremy Leagon of Greenwood, Lindsey Leagon Patterson and husband, Nathan, of Blacksburg, Kaley Thompson Cable and husband, A.J., of Blacksburg, and Jordan Leagon Hamrick and husband, Devin, of Jacksonville, NC; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Law, of Spartanburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5th, 2017, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6th, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Nazareth Baptist Church with Rev. J. R. Robbins and Rev. Joseph Clayton officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the employees of Hospice Compassus for their caring compassion during the illnesses of both of their parents. Memorials may be made to CKC Fire Department, 984 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702 or to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1886, Gaffney, SC 29342. The family will be at the residence.
