Gaffney-- Marie Parris Haney, 81, formerly of 612 West Pine Street in Blacksburg, passed away May 27th, 2010 at BrookView Health Center. Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Haney was the wife of the late Willie R. Parris and the daughter of the late John and Bessie Ricketts Peterson. She retired from textiles and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Haney is survived by three sons, Danny Leroy Haney of Clover, Larry Wayne Haney of Blacksburg, and Franklin Earl Parris of Blacksburg; two daughters, Brenda Marie James of Cherryville, NC and Phyllis Parris Philbeck of Blacksburg; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenneth Peterson and Darvin Peterson, both of York. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Haney was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Thelma Haney, one sister, and six brothers. The family will receive friends May 29th, 2010 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held May 30th, at 3:00pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Sid Shuford officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
