Marshall Patterson

Blacksburg -- Marshall David Patterson, 87, of 411 Batchelor Drive, passed away Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Cherokee Falls, Mr. Patterson was the widower of Viola (Boots) Bolin Patterson and the son of the late Everette and Verg Blanton Patterson. He retired from textiles, was a former member of the Moose Lodge, was one of the founders of C.K.C. Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church. Mr. Patterson is survived by two daughters, Margaret Owen and husband, Jimmy, and Michelle Martin and husband, Jerry, all of Blacksburg; two sons, Tommy Patterson of Blacksburg and Larry Patterson and wife, Telisa, of the home; six grandchildren, Jimmy Owen Jr. and wife, Dee, of Greenwood, Robert Owen and wife, Heather, of Blacksburg, Jessica Martin of Blacksburg, Derrick Martin of Blacksburg, Larry Scott Patterson of the home, and Bruce Tyler Patterson of the home; 4 great-grandchildren; and two half-sisters, Nenivaha Hambright of Waco, NC and Watorla Childress of Gaffney. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by a son, Larry Eugene Patterson; his step-mother, Ida Patterson, seven brothers, Victor, Charlie, Ernest, Jackie Lee, James Edward, Darvin, and Felment Patterson; and five sisters, Lula Earls, Mae Waters, Brownie Rector, Lois Hardin, and Nancy Cobb. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 6:00pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 4, 2011, at 4:00pm at Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church with Rev. Gregg Martin and Rev. Robert Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church, 207 First Street, Cherokee Falls, SC 29702. The family will be at Margaret Owen's residence, 1522 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
