Mary Isler

Blacksburg -- Mary Elizabeth Virginia Leagon Isler, 84, of 528 West Carolina Street, passed away Monday, August 17th, 2015, at Mary Black Health System - Gaffney. Born in Blacksburg, she was the widow of Charlie James Isler and the daughter of the late Ceafie McKinley Leagon and Lelia Mae Bolton Leagon. In addition to being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Isler was an active member of Nazareth Baptist Church and the Blacksburg location of the Cherokee County Seniors Centers. Surviving Mrs. Isler are one son, Charlie Dean Isler, of Seneca; one daughter, Cheryl Isler Lipsey and husband, Terry, of Shelby; three brothers, Johnny Leagon, Ceafie "Junior" Leagon, and Peter Leagon, all of Blacksburg; three sisters, Evelyn Blackwell of Blacksburg, Louella Ricker of Blacksburg, and Leona Goodson of Gaffney; one granddaughter, Crystal Payseur and husband, Derek, of Wilmington, NC; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Isler was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Isler; two sisters, Virgie Hambright and Viola Leagon; and one brother, Charlie Leagon. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20th, 2015, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Joe Clayton and Rev. Tim Knotts officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Cherokee County Seniors Center of Blacksburg, 301 West Pine Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702. The family will be at the residence.
