Gaffney -- Mary Doris White, 89, of 521 West Montgomery Street, Apt. 20, passed away Friday, March 4th, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Blacksburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Lillie Gordon White. Ms. White retired from Arkwright Mills after twenty-four years and was a member of Northeast Fellowship Church of God, formerly Elm Street Church of God. Surviving Ms. White is one daughter, Kathy White, of Gaffney; one brother, Glenn White, of Gaffney; one sister, Thelma Ledford, of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Travis Childers of Chesnee and Kayce Camp of Gaffney; three great-grandchildren, Heather, Blake, and Elijah Childers; one great-great-grandson, Kendall Childers; and her grand-dog, Rain. In addition to her parents, Ms. White was preceded in death by three brothers, James E. White, Jr., Roy White, and Floyd White, and one sister, Maedell Shackleford. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 7th, 2016, from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm at Northeast Fellowship Church of God. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. James Garner, Rev. Robert Wells, and Rev. Willie Lanier officiating. Interment will be held in the Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Ed Powell, Brian Blanton, Mickey Bright, Paul Sperry, Kendall Sperry, Leon Broome, Dennis Hardin, and Edward Bolton will serve as pallbearers. Bill Blanton will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1886, Gaffney, SC 29342 or to the Northeast Fellowship Church of God Building Fund, 500 Peachoid Road, Gaffney, SC 29341. The family will be at their respective homes. The family would like to thank Dr. Soherwardy and his staff, as well as Melody at Peachtree Centre, for everything they did in caring for Ms. White.
