Gaffney -- Michael Gene Smith, 52, of 139 Deerwood Lane, passed away Tuesday, November 25th, 2014, at his residence. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Libby Smith and the son of Judy J. Smith and the late Thomas Smith. He worked in a paper mill and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife and mother, two sons, Thomas Michael Smith of Ridgefield, SC and Michael Shane Parris of Gaffney, three daughters, Jessica Dover of Blacksburg, Ashley Dale Smith of Gaffney and Hollie Catherine Parris of Gaffney, two brothers, Terry Thomas Smith and wife Holly of Gaffney, Kevin Dewayne Smith of Gaffney, one sister, Sherry Anne Dobbins and husband Buz of Gaffney, grandchildren, Haley Fowler, Stevie Parker, Landon Pennington, Lexi Smith, Michael Gage Smith, Samantha Parris, Lea Parris, Nathan Parris, Leighton Peeler and Kaydence Peeler., In addition to his father, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Peyton Marie Smith, and a very special aunt, Sherry Ann Inman. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28th, 2014, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29th, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. The family will be at the residence.
