Modra Goforth

Charlotte -- Modra Byars Goforth, 76, of 13701 Appling Lane, passed away Friday, May 27th, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center - Mercy. Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Goforth was the wife of Bobby Gene Goforth of the home and the daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Ila Elizabeth Childers Byars. Mrs. Goforth retired from Child Nutrition for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District and was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church in Fort Mill. Mrs. Goforth is survived by her husband, Bobby; a son, Robert "Robbie" Goforth and wife, Rae, of York; a daughter, Mabel "Libby" Garris and husband, Perry, of Charlotte; a sister, Elizabeth Bright, of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Michael Garris, Leslie Scott, Perry Garris, Jr., Katie Goforth, and Zachary Goforth; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Garris, Zane Ashe, Rylan Garris, and Rebecca Scott. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goforth was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Grady, Roy, and Bobby Dean Byars; and three sisters, Evelyn Niedwiegth, Beatrice Earls, and Dorothy Wright. The family will receive friends Monday, May 30th, 2011 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Fort Mill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00pm at Flint Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Autry and Rev. Jim Greer officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
