Blacksburg -- Myra Louise Phillips Batchelor, 89, of 147 Batchelor Drive, passed away July 9th, 2010 at Brookview Healthcare Center.
Born in Gaffney, Mrs. Batchelor was the wife of the late Frank Batchelor and the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Bell Phillips Douglas. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg.
Surviving Mrs. Batchelor are three daughters, Lisa Dale Batchelor Booth and husband, Bill, of Vinton, VA, Kay Howell and husband, Jimmy, of Grover, and Gwenne McCarter of Blacksburg; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Colleen Pettus of Rock Hill and Thelma Ellis of Mt. Holly, NC.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Batchelor was preceded in death by a son, Douglas McCarter; a daughter, Leslie Gayle Batchelor; and a step-father, Albert Benjamin Clarence Douglas and a granddaughter Dana Marie Howell
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 11th, 2010, from 7:00pm - 8:30pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 12th, at 11:00am at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Scott Hammett officiating.
