<p>Blacksburg -- Newell Burnham Hammond, 83, of 654 Lookout Tower Road, passed away Thursday, January 14th, 2016, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Hartford, MI, he was the husband of Janet Rule Hammond and the son of the late Burnham and Dola Boze Hammond. Mr. Hammond retired from ministry and was of the Seventh Day Adventist faith.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife, Mr. Hammond is survived by two sons, Frank Lincoln Hammond of Gastonia and Michael Alan Hammond of Highlands, NC; two sisters, Marilynn Armstrong of Newcastle, California and Charlene Hammond of Calhoun, GA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Russell.</p><p><br></p><p>Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Clingman Memorial Gardens with Elder William Golson officiating. </p><p><br></p><p>The family will be at the residence.</p><p><br></p><p>The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.</p>
