BLACKSBURG – Pauline Northey Holmes, 92, of 1314 W. Pine St., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Brookview Healthcare. Born May 7, 1918, in Cherokee County, she was the widow of Coley Blease Holmes and daughter of the late Joseph Graham Northey and the late Lillie Florence Jenkins Northey. She was a member of Broad River Baptist Church, retired from Hamrick Mills and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a son, Kenneth Neal Holmes and wife, Helen, of Gaffney; a daughter, Laura Parker and husband, Bobby, of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Heather Holcombe and husband, Jamey, of Gaffney, Krystal McRobie of Blacksburg, Jacob Neal Holmes and wife, Emily, Anissa Parker and husband, Michael, Donna Parker, all of Gaffney, and John Robert Parker and wife, Genna Jo, of Inman; 12 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Martin, Alex Martin, Kody Holcombe, Landon Holcombe, Seth McRobie, Ethan McRobie, Jaymie Holmes, Hannah Guthrie, Will Guthrie, Ben Guthrie, JR Parker and Steven Ongemach; and a special nephew and niece, Joe and Mozelle Huffstetler of Gastonia, N.C. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Madison Hope Martin; four sisters, Belle Moss, Annie Mae Teague, Ellen Huffstetler and Jessie Barkley; and a brother, Grady Northey. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 6, from 3-4 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary. Services will follow at 4 p.m. in Gordon Mortuary Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Norman Philbeck and the Rev. Vernon Craig. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robbie Northey, Joe Huffstetler, Jamey Holcombe, Herbert Teague, Mike Teague and Larry Teague. The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Bobby Parker, 105 Stacy Drive, Gaffney. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O.
