Blacksburg --SSG. Peter Kevin McBride, 50, of 126 Lancaster Drive, Blacksburg, passed away Monday, January 7th, 2013 at his residence. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, Mr. McBride was the husband of Lisa McBride of the home and the son of Isabelle Kirk Rioch Howarth and adopted father Erwin Gray Howarth and Robert and Mary McBride. He was a sergeant with the Blacksburg Police Department. He was a deacon and member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church. He was a member of Buffalo Lodge #202 AFM, the Cherokee County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #20, and Deputy State Commissioner for Clan Donald USA. He graduated top of his class at SC Criminal Justice Academy. He attended Barrington College in Barrington RI and received a Bachelor's Degree from Boise State University in Boise, ID. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and US Army. He received Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. He was in the 105th MP Battalion in the NC National Guard. He was Unit Bag Piper and Recruiting Sargent for Company E, 75th New York Highlanders and US Civil War Union Army Highland Regiment Reenactment group in Boise, ID. He was a founding member of Boise American-Scottish Society in Idaho. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. McBride is survived by two sons, Sean James McBride of Greenville, TN, and Brendon Connor McBride of the home; three daughters, Jessica Renee' McBride of Lancaster, PA, Cameron Robison Moore of Gaffney, and Savannah Robison of the home; one brother, Jason Howarth of Lancaster, PA; four sisters, Summer Savon of Lancaster, PA, Veronica Anne McBride of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cindy Van Oort of Salem, OR, and Sharon Howarth of Kentycky; and four grandchildren, Ivy Marie Tindle, Christian Julian McBride, Alexis Renee' McBride, and Aydin Joseph Moore. The family will receive friends Friday, January 11th, 2013 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12th, at 3:00pm at First Baptist Church of Blacksburg with Rev. Terry Floyd officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Police Officers of the Blacksburg Police Department will serve as active pallbearers. All other law enforcement officers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
