Robert Humphries

Black Mountain, NC -- Robert Lewis Humphries, 58, of Old Highway 70, passed away Thursday, January 23rd, 2014, at Mission Hospital. He was the son of the late Roy Lee Humphries and Lucille Reep Merrell. In addition to his mother, Mr. Humphries is survived by two brothers, Michael D. Merrell and Christopher T. Merrell, both of Blacksburg and three sisters, Brenda O'Shields of Dalton, GA, Billie Duff of Gaffney, and Bobbie Corry of Blacksburg. Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Benjamin and Connell Merrell; and two sisters, Corrine Merrell Chandler and Baby Girl Humphries. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 26th, 2014, from 2:00 pm -3:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Grady Gregory, and Rev. Charles Reep officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Matthew Cash, Danny Foster, Joe Thomas, Dustin Haney, Phillip Martin, and Christopher Merrell will serve as pallbearers.
