Roger Dean Wylie

Gaffney -- Roger Dean Wylie Sr., 56, of 301 Overhill Dr. Lot 9, passed away Wednesday, August 16th, 2017, at his residence. Born in Kings Mountain, he was the husband of Darlene Horn Wylie and the son of Shirley Tucker Henson and the late Lester Wylie. Mr. Wylie previously worked in construction and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Wylie is survived by a son, Roger Dean Wylie II, of Blacksburg; a daughter, Celia Nadaleen Wylie, of Blacksburg; a step-son, Sammie Whiteside, of Gaffney; a step-daughter, Cristy Hill, of Gaffney; a sister, Linda Lavender, of Gaffney; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Wylie was preceded in death by his father, Lester, a brother, Calvin Wylie, and a sister, Kathrine "Peanut" Horn. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 18th, 2017, from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. The funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Michael Owen officiating. Memorials may be made to Roger Dean Wylie Funeral Fund, co Gordon Mortuary, PO Box 428, Blacksburg, SC 29702 or online through the Book of Memories.. The family will be at the residence.
