Steve Starnes

Blacksburg -- Steve Alexander Starnes, 55, of 131 Bolin Road, Lot 8, passed away Monday, December 29th, 2014, at Gaffney Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, he was the son of Shirley Childers Fortenberry and the late Bobby Starnes. In addition to his mother, Mr. Starnes is survived by a fiance, Sheila Prather; two step-sons, Eugene and Don Parris, both of Blacksburg; a daughter, Madison Dawn Starnes, of Pageland, SC; one step-daughter, Dawn Childers, of Blacksburg; three brothers, Ricky Gene Starnes of Blacksburg, Christopher Smith of Waterloo, SC, and Bobby Gene Starnes of Blacksburg; three sisters, Cheryl Dedmon of Tennessee, Rita Martin of Blacksburg, and Laura Gunn of Gaffney; and ten grandchildren., In addition to his father, Mr. Starnes was preceded in death by three sisters, Angela Starnes, Cathey Starnes, and Donna Childers. The family will receive friends anytime at Shirley Fortenberry's Residence, 201 East Carolina Street, Blacksburg. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Wisher Cemetery at 3:00 pm with Rev. Danny Marshburn and Mr. Timothy Bo Waldrip, and officiating. Don Parris, Eugene Parris, Shane Thompson, Danny Lee, James "Bubba" Jenkins, and Jonathan Childers will serve as pallbearers.
