William Elias Powers

<p>Smyrna -- William E. Powers, 87, of 2289 Ebenezer Road, passed away Wednesday, December 30th, 2015, at his residence.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Williamsburg, SC, he was the husband of Martha Juanita Woodruff Powers and the son of the late William Russel Powers and Mary Jane Beulah Mathis Powers. Mr. Powers retired from construction and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was also a member of Local Union 636 in Emonte, California. He was a US Army veteran.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife, Mr. Powers is survived by a son, David William Powers, of Sun Valley, NV; a step-son, Brian Keith Burcham, of Corinth, MS; three daughters, Eugenia Louise Powers of Colorado, Angela Marie Edney of Sun Valley, NV, and Yvette Lawrence of Bonney Lake, WA; an adopted brother, Olin Powers, of Kings Mountain, NC; twelve grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, Mr. Powers was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Denise McGraw; a brother, Evins Latson Powers; and a sister, Maggie Brockington.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. The funeral will immediately follow at 2:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Todd Justice and Rev. Jeff McGraw officiating. </p><p><br></p><p>Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Blacksburg, SC 29702.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will be at the residence.</p><p><br></p><p>The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.</p>
