William Smith

Blacksburg -- William Lawrence Smith, 65, of 504 Indian Springs Road, passed away Monday, March 30th, 2015, at his residence. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Cynthia Dover Smith and the son of Gladys Campbell Smith and the late William Carl Smith. Mr. Smith retired from Industrial Minerals after 38 years and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Carla O'Donnell and husband, David, of Blacksburg and Jackie Geitner and husband, Billy, of Dallas, NC; one brother, David Smith, of Blacksburg; two sisters, Sue Gregory of York and Annette Hamilton of Charlotte; six grandchildren, William Thor Smith and wife, Kayla, of Blacksburg, Courtney Whisnant and husband, Chris, of Kings Mountain, Tyler and Lilly O'Donnell of Blacksburg, and Justin and Tyler Geitner, of Sharon, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Brantley Whisnant and Ansley "Peanut" Whisnant. In addition to his father, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a son, Teddy Wayne Smith. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1st, 2015, from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2nd, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Sellers and Rev. David O'Donnell officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Travis Ramsey, Rod Ruth, Steve Hardin, Michael Falls, Brian Mullinax, and Ryan Mullinax will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Blacksburg, SC 29702. The family will be at the residence. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
