Wilma Neal

Gastonia -- Wilma Louise Carroll Neal, 83, of 1009 Hamme Lane, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Born in Cherokee County, Mrs. Neal was the wife of Jasper Neal of the home and the daughter of the late Irby Hemphill and Minnie Lee Spurlin Carroll. She worked as a seamstress in textiles and was a member of Graber Baptist Church, where she was active in the senior citizens group. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Neal is survived by two sons, Eddie Forrest Moore of the home and Steve Ira Moore of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Lois Ann M. Nalley of Gaffney, Joyce Peace of Gaffney, and Irene Martin of Blacksburg; a brother, Henry Ray Carroll of Sumter, SC; two sisters, Ella Mae Goforth of Gastonia and Betty Jean Foster of Blacksburg; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by two husbands, Ira Moore and J.D. Gray; a son, Larry Kenneth Moore; two grandsons, Dwayne Moore and Charlie William Nalley; a granddaughter, Lora Sheryl Mathis; two brothers, Eugene and Cleotis Carroll; and a sister, Mary Frances Farris. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 Friday evening at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 2 PM at Antioch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at Irene Martin's residence, 1097 Caldwell Road, Blacksburg. The Book of Memories is available at www.gordonmortuary.com.
