Gaffney -- Winford Eugene Blackwell, 75, of 154 Great Meadow Road, passed away Wednesday, February 10th, 2016, at Mary Black Health System - Gaffney. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Nuddie Painter Blackwell and the son of the late Walter Blackwell and Emmie White Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell retired as a Fireman with 28 years of service in the Gaffney City Fire Department and attended True Gospel Independent Baptist Church. He served for 52 years coaching and in affiliation with Gaffney Little League Baseball. He was a member of Gaffney Masonic Lodge #186 AFM. In addition to his wife, Mr. Blackwell is survived by three sons, Billy Blackwell and wife, Cindy, Terry Blackwell, and Tim Blackwell and wife, Lisa, all of Gaffney; two brothers, Furman Blackwell and Paul Henry Blackwell, both of Gaffney; one sister, Betty Owens of Blacksburg; seven grandchildren, Terry Wayne Blackwell and wife, Cindy, Jason Blackwell and wife, Leigh, Jott Blackwell and wife, Casey, Josh Blackwell and fiancee', Lauren, Tina Morris and husband, Tony, Angel Vinson and husband, Neal, and Cassandra Holcomb and husband, Justin; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, JC Moore, John Howlette, and J. W. Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Blackwell, and his sister, Mary Scruggs, and daughter-in-law, Marla Rolison Blackwell. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 12th, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at 1:00 pm at True Gospel Independent Baptist Church, 312 Pondfield Road, Gaffney, SC, with Rev. William Blanton and Rev. Henry Guyton officiating. Interment will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens. Jason Blackwell, Terry Wayne Blackwell, Jott Blackwell, Josh Blackwell, Tony Morris, and Neil Vinson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbarers will be Gaffney City Firemen.
