Gloria Gearhart Charleston, South Carolina Obituary

Gloria Gearhart

Gloria Davis Gearhart (Oma), 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 3rd. Gloria was full of life and love and fought a short battle with cancer that ended quickly and without pain. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, John Gearhart; daughter, Tanya Nelson Gurrieri and son-in-law, Rich; son, Benny Nelson; grandchildren, Hannah, Logan, Gracen & Keleigh Legare Nelson, Isabella & Bennett Gurrieri; and her "pick up" family, James, Judy, Reina, Arthur & Mathew Daugomah; brothers, Bobby Davis and Jimmy Davis; and a sister, Delores Davis; step-children, Brett, Beth & Sean (Kim) Gearhart. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kelly; her parents; and brother, Philip. She leaves behind many friends and extended family members whom she loved dearly. Gloria's zest for life and spirited nature are how she will be remembered. She lived life fully and had no regrets. Her work at Phillips shoes for almost 20 years kept her going and in touch with the community of people she loved. Gloria's fire and spirit taught us all to fiercely protect and take care of the ones you love, tell it like it is, take no bull and to always be strong. She grew up outside of Charlotte with a childhood most of us couldn't imagine, but found mentors in school and elsewhere to give her a foundation of love that she would then pass on to her family. She'd say to us all, "Don't worry about me, quit that crying and get back to work". Arrangements for a celebration of Gloria's life will follow.
