Mary Frances Mahaffey

Mary Frances Mahaffey, of Lancaster, passed away July 7, 2019. She was born October 16, 1956, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Bill and Julia Gardner. Mrs. Mahaffey was known for having a good sense of humor. She never met a stranger and could talk to anyone for hours. She liked fishing at the beach, traveling, and attending Bible study. She was a member of Lancaster Church of Christ. She was “Meme” to two grandchildren who she loved and cherished. Mrs. Mahaffey is survived by her husband of 45 years, John D. Mahaffey; daughters, Kristie Marie Stariha and her husband Rodney, and Emily Charlotte Mahaffey; brother, Thomas “Tommy” Gardner and his wife Tina; grandchildren, Matthew Zeth Ryker Stariha and Jacob Wyatt Rollings; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog Oscar. The family will receive friends at A Simple Service Burial and Cremation, 201 N. Catawba St. in Lancaster from 6:00 until 7:30 pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, and other times at the family’s home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of A Simple Service Burial and Cremation on Wednesday, July 10, at 1:00 pm with Shannon Ham and Wayne Walton officiating. Entombment will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A Simple Service Burial and Cremation is serving the Mahaffey family.
