Imogene Borgelt

Imogene Herren Borgelt, 88, long-time resident of Rock Hill, SC was the daughter of Wylie Eugene and Effie McElrath Herren of Candler, NC. She was the wife of Arnold Ambrose Borgelt, deceased, formerly a reporter at the Herald. She is survived by a sister, Frances Epps of Rock Hill; her son, John and his wife Christine of Vienna, VA; grandchildren Emily, Claudia, and Evan Borgelt; and many loving nieces and nephews in the greater Rock Hill area. Preceding her in death are nine siblings: brothers Ernest, Sherman, Claude, Willis ‘Bill’, and James Herren; sisters Marcia Cole, Christine Taylor, Hazel Rauch, and Geneva Jones. Mrs. Borgelt was an Air Force wife and homemaker. During WWII, she worked in a munitions factory and later held various administrative jobs. She enjoyed many hobbies and interests including gardening, bowling, crafts and she was an accomplished quilter. Her family will remember her by her lovely handiwork and for her culinary skills, intelligence, deep patriotism, and knowledge of current events. Visitation will be held at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill on October 27 from 12:00 to 1:30. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm in the Forest Hills Cemetery, Hwy 161, Rock Hill. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, tax-deductible memorials be made to Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
