Emma E. Rover passed away at Prisma Tuomey Health Hospital on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Emma is the widow of the late David Rover Jr. To this union they had two daughters, Cynthia Melba Rover, who proceeded Emma in death, and Doreen E. James, who was Emma’s caregiver for twelve years. Emma was the second oldest child born to Ulysses and Pastor Emma R. Jones. Emma was born on September 8, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York. Her family moved to Manhattan where Emma attended school. Emma was loved by her family and friends. She was someone who believed in giving to those in need. Emma was a friendly, sassy, and caring woman. In March of 2016, Emma got sick and lived out her remaining years of live at Blue Ridge Healthcare of Sumter. Emma was a good faithful wife and mother. Emma touched many lives on a daily basis. She always had a smile and words of encouragement. Emma always was a sharp and classy dresser. She liked to wear stylish wigs. Emma also loved to smell good by using her favorite perfumes. Emma leaves behind one daughter Doreen E. James; three grandsons, Donald (Sharae) Heyward, Carl Brandon James and Terrance (Lisa) Baker; two great grandchildren, Isaiah and Charm Hallingquest; and two sisters, Dorothy Green and Vivian McDaniel both of New York. A host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends will greatly miss her. We the family would like to thank Gary West, Alexis, and Kathreen at Blue Ridge for the love and kindness that they extended to Mrs. Emma Rover during her three years and nine months there. God Bless You!!! A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
