Gloria King Ford, 82, widow of Herbert Clinton Ford, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at her home. Born July 14, 1934, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene King and the late Gertrude Lowder King. She was a member of Sumter First Church of God. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Alsbrook Furniture Company, office manager for Sumter Wrecker and H.C. Ford and Son Scrap Metal, as well as a cook at Fat Boys. Mrs. Ford was best known for her cooking and catering. Survivors include two children, Clinton Karl Ford (Valeria) and Wendi Bowman all of Sumter; three grandchildren, Jessica Lane McGee (Brad), William Chase Goins (Jessica), and Christopher Karl Ford (Amber); four great-grandchildren, Lanie McGee, Peyton McGee, Jace Goins, and Brayden Ford; and a special family members, Alma Mack and Elaine Byrd. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday at Sumter First Church of God with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad McGee, Chase Goins, Chris Ford, Deron McCormick, Gary Mixon, and John Wall. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Sumter First Church of God and the Sumter Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday at Sumter First Church of God and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Sumter First Church of God, 1835 Highway 521 N., Sumter, SC 29153. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
