Jean Johnson

Jean Wilson Johnson, 82, widow of Edward Byron Johnson, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey. Born January 5, 1935, in York County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. George T. Wilson, Sr. and the late Willie Farris Wilson. She retired from Campbell Soup Company and was employed as a medical technician for LabCorp. Survivors include three daughters, Debra Brewer (Larry), Bonnie Kelley (Mike), and Patty McRoy (Marion); a son, David Byron Johnson; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ann Hanvey, Aquilla Ruple, Georgie Lyons (Bob), and Carolyn Goodwin (Lee); and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jock Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, William Marc Brewer, Michael Walter Kelley, Ryan Johnson Kelley, Eduard Ryan Neal, Stephen Michael Craven, and Patric Rhett McRoy. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews P.O. Box 97339 Washington, D. C. 20077-7472. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
