Joy Ash Geddings Ingram, 76, wife of John G. Ingram, Jr., died Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey. Born September 5, 1943, in Clarksburg, WVA, she was a daughter of the late George McClelland Ash and the late Esther Powell Ash. She attended the Salvation Army Training College in Atlanta GA, and was a Salvation Army Officer for many years. More recently, she was employed by the Salvation Army in Sumter, SC. She was a member of Sumter First Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Children’s Bible Quizzing Coach prior to her illness. Survivors include her husband of 25 years; two daughters, Judy Tolson (Robert) and Jamie Rivers (Tony); a special foster daughter, Georgia Allsbrook; step-sons, Johnny Ingram (Becky), Gene Ingram (Lisa), and Harold Ingram; grandchildren, Brittney Johnson (Curtis), Kaitlyn Wright (Jeremiah), Ashton Brunson (Cody), Aaron Tolson, Kelsie Ratliff, Kaitlyn Rivers, and Connor Rivers; a number of great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren; siblings Doug Ash and Sharon Lowther (Stanley); and a special sister and brother-in-love, Mary Sue Baker (Bobby) and Gerald Copeland. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Greg Pressley and the Rev. Dr. James Thrower officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Allsbrook, Eric Burress, Joe Waldron, Kenny Allen, Roy Hancock and Terry Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Queen and Carroll Wilson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Curtis and Brittney Johnson, 2690 Pintail Dr. Memorials may be made to Gunter Camp and Conference Center, c/o S.C. District Church of the Nazarene, 150 McSwain Dr., West Columbia, SC 29169. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
