Joseph Marcus Rogers, 26, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at his home. Born in Sumter, he was a son of Jennings M. “Jimmy” Rogers, Jr. and Marie Mixon Rogers. Marcus attended Sumter Freewill Baptist Church of the Pentecostal Faith. He was a great cook. Survivors include his wife, Lakin Rogers of Sumter; his parents of Sumter; a twin sister, McKenzie Rogers (Umut) of Charleston; a brother, Jennings “Jay” Rogers (Casey) of Sumter; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Varnette Mixon of Sumter; and an uncle, Gerald Mixon of Sumter. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jennings M. “Jimmy” Rogers, Sr. and Sara W. Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Chan, the Rev. Stacy Floyd, the Rev. Brandon Chan, and the Rev. Matt Cuney officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his parents, 3090 Leach Dr. Memorials may be made to Sumter Freewill Baptist Church of the Pentecostal Faith, 971 Boulevard Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
