Peggy Jones Atkinson, 70, widow of Thomas Allen Atkinson, Jr., died Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey. Born March 17, 1950, in Sumter she was a daughter of Gladys Avins Jones Bell and the late Daulton Daniel Jones. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was employed for many years at Korn Industries and currently at Lee Construction. Survivors include her mother of Sumter; a son, Keith E. Atkinson and his wife, Laura of Lexington; three grandchildren, Kayla, Hanna, and Johnathon Atkinson all of Lexington; a brother, Wayne Jones and his wife, Linda of Lake City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Bradley. A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday in the Wells Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Atkinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
