Jackie Joe Hicks was born on October 7, 1956 in Pine Ridge, SD to Neil and Doris Hicks. Jackie passed away on November 27, 2020 at his home in Martin, SD. Jackie was raised and resided around the Martin area up to his final days. Jackie graduated from the Bennett County High School in 1974. Jackie worked at numerous places around Martin, he worked for the County for several years and he was known as one of the best road grade drivers around. Driving the road grader was one of Jackie’s many passions in life. He also worked for the City of Martin and O’Bryan Construction. Jackie enjoyed many things in life including fishing, working on his cars, spending time with his lifelong friends and his two daughters. On September 10, 2020 Jackie married his friend, Brandi Poor Thunder. Jackie will be missed by many. Jackie is survived by his mother, Doris Hicks of Martin, SD; wife, Brandi Poor Thunder of Martin, SD; daughters, Jacklyn Hicks and Alyssa Hicks of Rapid City, SD; sisters, Dorothy Scherer of Martin, SD, Karen (David) Bakley of Martin, SD; brother, Leroy Hicks of Martin, SD; and numerous nieces & nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Neil; grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
