Delores Krenz

Delores Mae Krenz, 87, of La Mesa, CA, formerly of Plankinton, SD passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Grossmont Gardens in La Mesa. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2019 at Mizpah Cemetery in Plankinton. Delores Mae Krenz was born on July 8, 1931 to Oscar and Pearl (Paulson) Krenz in South Dakota. After graduating from high school, she went on to earn her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. Delores taught school in South Dakota and worked as a Social Worker. Delores was of the Lutheran faith, an active member of her community – serving on the San Diego Police Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP); was a member of the San Diego Zoological Society; the San Diego Zoo Benefactor’s Circle; and the National Geographic Society. She enjoyed traveling and anything to do with cats. Grateful for having shared in Delores’ life: numerous cousins, including Myrtle (Krenz) Kruse of Phoenix, AZ. Myrtle lived with Delores and her mother following the death of Delores’ father. Delores was considered another “aunt” by Myrtle's three children: Kaye (Kruse) Biorn, Bev (Kruse) Amperse, and Judith (Kruse) Julien all of Phoenix, AZ. In addition to her many relatives, Delores is survived by her dear friend, Jean Smith of La Mesa, CA and Jean's grandson, Jonathan Palomares of Salt Lake City, UT, who were like family to her. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Pearl Krenz.
