Geraldine Ringling, 92, of Platte, SD passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Platte Christian Reformed Church. A Committal Service will follow at the Platte City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, June 18, 2009 with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service, also at the church. Geraldine Pranger Ringling was born June 11, 1917 to Ryan and Marie (VanderVoort) Pranger in Platte, SD. She attended country school west of Platte. Going on to be employed in Orange City, IA, Sioux Falls, SD, at the Win Servin Hotel in Platte, was a bookkeeper for Northwestern Bell and member of the Platte Christian Reformed Church, also serving as a Calvinette Counselor. On March 29, 1941 she united in marriage to Herman J. Ringling in Butte, NE. Geraldine enjoyed crocheting rugs, blankets and afghans. She kept busy raising chickens, but always found time to bring lunches out to the men while tending to the daily farm activities. Those grateful for having shared in Geraldine’s life include: her 3 children: daughter, Rose Marie (John) Fitzgerald of Hudson, SD; their family: John III (Kari), Kalista and Levi; Michael, Trevor and Triston; Pamela (Adam) Waterman, Bret, Aden and Kama; Dallas (Cindy), Clayton, Kaylee and Cage; Fallon Fitzgerald; son, Richard (Mary Lou) Ringling of Platte, SD; their family: Craig (Lisa), Connor and Caden; Todd (Julie), Peyton and Addison; Jason, Hanna and Halie; Jamie (Chris), Jayd, Brooklyn, Jessy Jo, Asia and Dani; Kim (Reese) Coffee, Aspen, Anna Jo and Logen; daughter, Delores (Mike) Scholl of Platte, SD; their family: April (Cory) Spicer, Skylar and Bailey Jo; Ryan; 2 sisters: Lois Adams of Puyallup, WA and Norma Vold of Montrose, CO; along with several nieces and nephews. Geraldine was preceded in death by: her husband, Herman J. Ringling (Feb. 9, 1988); her parents, Ryan and Marie Pranger; 2 sons: Ronald and Don Ringling; a grandson, Reno Fitzgerald and 2 brothers-in-law; Bill Adams and Bob Vold.
