Glenn August Blasius, 81, of Kimball, SD passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston, SD. Funeral Mass is 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 17, 2019 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball. A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, August 16, 2019 with a 7:00 P.M. Wake Service and Rosary. Glenn August Blasius was born on May 12, 1938 to August and Alby (Mashek) Blasius at their home in Kimball, SD. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1956 and went on to serve his country in the US Marines. On February 9, 1959 Glenn was united in marriage to Frances Jean Stadler at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball. He was employed at Midstate Telecommunications before beginning his lifelong career as a farmer and rancher. Glenn was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Drips American Legion Post #130 and the Kimball Rodeo Club. Glenn loved spending time with his family who was his pride and joy, and enjoyed anything to do with horses. Grateful for having shared in Glenn’s life: his wife and the love of his life of over 60 years, Francie Blasius of Kimball, SD; 10 children, 27 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, and 17 step great grandchildren: Rita Blasius (Cleve) of Parkston, SD – Cassie Gerlach, Taylor and Cole Mohnen; Wade (Anita) Blasius of Kimball, SD – Weston Blasius, Kristen Konechne, Waylon Blasius and Jada Bakker; Brett (Paula) Blasius of Wall, SD – Lane, Josie, Blair, Burk and Jace Blasius; Glenda (Rich) Norman of Rapid City, SD; Rene (Kevin) Ham of Rapid City, SD – Chapman Ham and Carlee Gregor; Lori (Ron) Heidinger of Corsica, SD – Kirk Surat and Lydia Niewenhuis; Lisa (Bryce) Havlik of Mitchell, SD – Stratton, Austin, Brent and Briggs Havlik; Justin (Kari) Blasius of Kimball, SD – Turner and Brenna Blasius; Jason (Chris) Blasius of Chamberlain, SD – Kala Krump, Gentrie and Mavrick Blasius; and Tate (Angie) Blasius of Prineville, OR – Dylan and Dean Blasius; two brothers: Jim (Mary Ann) Blasius of Lennox, SD and Gary (Sandy) Blasius of Sahuarita, AZ; five sisters: Dianna (Fran) Coley of Bullhead City, AZ, Carol (Darold) Thomas of Kimball, SD, Teresa (Curt) Sharping of Sioux Falls, SD, Sue (Gary) Mahrt of Oacoma, SD and Linda (Jerry) Jensen of Gregory, SD; along with many nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, August and Alby Blasius; a daughter-in-law, Lezlie Blasius; a grandson, Trevor Mohnen; a great grandson, Jake Gerlach; in-laws, James and Virginia Stadler; a sister-in-law, Karen (Larry) Hildebrand; and two brothers-in-law: Terry Goodman and Ed Wheeler.
