Roy B. Baker, Sr., 79, of Blountville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at the Life Care Center of Gray. He was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee to the late Argie Boyce Baker and Betty Mae Ford-Baker. Roy was a devoted member of Centenary United Methodist Church and later Wheeler United Methodist Church. He dearly loved his church family and enjoyed the fellowship he shared with them for many years. Roy retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1994 after 34 years of dedicated service as an Electrician. He enjoyed farming with his sons and raising a large garden every year. Roy married his “Honey B” and love of his life, the late Monnie M. Hall in 1960 and they celebrated 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his infant son, Randall B. Baker, two sisters, Katherine Cunningham and Edith Doane and brother, Ray Baker. He is survived by three sons, Jeff Baker and wife Libby, Boyce Baker and Vance Baker and wife DeeDee; grandchildren, Bryan Baker, Brittany Baker, Katie Chase (Daniel), Wes Baker (Brandi), Amanda White (James), and Adam Strouth; three great-grandsons, Brydon Baker, Carson Baker, and Hudson Chase; sister-in-law, Patsy Baker, brothers-in-law, Richard Hall (Joyce) and Wayne Gilliam, and several nieces and nephews. Due to the current state and government restriction in place, the family will hold a private graveside service at East Tennessee Funeral Home & Cemetery in Blountville, Tennessee. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date to be held at Wheeler United Methodist Church. East Tennessee Funeral Home & Cemetery is honored to serve the Roy B. Baker Sr. family.
