CWO2 (Ret) Jacob Leighty

Jacob Dale Leighty, Jr., age 75, departed this life on Friday, July 14, 2017 at his home while surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Garrette Milliken officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Full Military Honors will be rendered. The Leighty family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Also, a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Jacob entered into this life on May 25, 1942 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to Jacob Dale Leighty, Sr. and Annabelle Marie Waldron Leighty. He grew up in the small Pennsylvania community of Seger Patch and graduated from Derry Township High School Class of 1960, Derry, Pennsylvania. Jacob retired from the U.S. Army and as the Chief of ISS at Fort Campbell with a combined 54 years of dedicated service to the country. Jacob was actively involved with several extracurricular organizations. He was a member of Moose Lodge #1027, Masonic Lodge #89, the VFW, and the Cordell Hull Legion #75. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his father and his first wife, Sandra Louvell Leighty. In addition to his mother, Jacob is survived by his wife Debra Mangrum Leighty; sons Jacob Dale Leighty III (Inge Maria) and James Edward Leighty (Mark Dooley); children by marriage, Tony DiDonato (Cindy), Marcus DiDonato, and Melissa Planty (Harold); siblings, Robert Leighty (Holly), John Leighty, and Ruthann Feletic (John); sister-in-law, Lindra Anderson; and nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Masonic Widows and Orphans of Tennessee Fund, Grand Lodge Building, 100 7th Avenue, Suite 1, Nashville, TN 37203 or to Mooseheart Charities, 155 S International Dr., Mooseheart, IL 60539.
